Inlay is an exquisite and fine art of engraving gems and semi-precious stones (shaped by hand) into stone preferably marble, soapstone and granite. White Marble is a stone most preferred by the artists. The Mughal Emperor Shahjahan introduced the art of marble inlay in India in the 17th century when he built the Taj Mahal in city of Agra. About 20, 000 Persian master craftsmen and artists were employed to build and decorate the Taj, which took 22 years to complete. These artists then made Agra their second home and this art became an integral part of the cultural heritage of Agra. Marble Inlay Work is world renowned for unrivaled aesthetic beauty and workmanship.
